Jessica
Williams
Jessica, a graduate of
Howard University, was born in a small city called Moreno Valley, CA.
Being the oldest, with twin siblings, she was considered "unique".
Uniqueness wasn't shown through perfect grades, social popularity, or
ideal physical image. It was shown as a result of life's lessons. Many
of her experiences broke her and made her think she couldn't accomplish
the dreams of a "little girl". As an adult those experiences
gave her what she now needs to live up to the dreams of that "little
girl". She now sees herself uplifting her generation and motivating
the next generation of women for leadership.
The
Essence of Ebony
In the midst of a generation where women
are freely taking their clothes off for the next music video, families
are crumbling, and sex seems to be the next big extreme sport, Williams
is trying to make a difference. In this book, she talks to young women
in a candid "no holds barred" way to make them question their
own choices in an effort to understand their decisions. Williams has encountered
her fair share of teenage issues. Still in her 20's, Williams' age and
her past struggles give her an advantage to relate to her generation.
Her stories are weaved throughout this book. Without passing judgment,
Williams writes from both sides of a number of issues in an effort to
provoke the necessary thought process young women are "leaping over"
trying to keep up with a society that demands so much.
