What Is A Book? This workshop is a book-making class that shows its participants that books can be made in many different forms. Participants do not need to have ANY previous experience in book making and anyone can do it! In the past, books have been made out of blue jeans, cloth, boxes, and we have even made edible books (yum)! Participants will make books that display their own writings.

Coloring With Your Right BrainThis workshop exposes its participants to the different ways colors can influence writing and stimulate creativity. Participants may use watercolors, crayons, stamp pads, or paint to express themselves in colors! This workshop will also draw the other four senses into “play” and, if participants aren't careful, they may be drawn into a frenzy of writing their new novel in fingerpaint! This workshop is perfect for writers who are experiencing writer’s block or who wish to replenish their brain with new creative thoughts.

Your Voice: Not To Be Used LightlyThis workshop is centered on assisting writers in verbal performances of their work. Many times writers (poets especially) have a hard time reading in front of an audience. Because of this insecurity, their writing appears to be boring and cannot sustain the interest of their audience. This class will teach the techniques to increase the effectiveness of reading and/or performance. The techniques will include changes in pitch--loud vs. soft; the back-story and how to tell it; picking the right performance piece; your face and how it helps or hinders your story; body movement as it relates to your writing; why eyes are made for eye contact; conveying feelings; and how your voice changes in different positions. There are several other techniques that will also be discussed. These techniques will improve book sales and result in more invitations to read and/or perform at different venues.
