Your
Voice: Not To Be Used Lightly
This
workshop is centered on assisting writers in verbal performances of their
work. Many times writers (poets especially) have a hard time reading in
front of an audience. Because of this insecurity, their writing appears
to be boring and cannot sustain the interest of their audience. This class
will teach the techniques to increase the effectiveness of reading and/or
performance. The techniques will include changes in pitch--loud vs. soft;
the back-story and how to tell it; picking the right performance piece;
your face and how it helps or hinders your story; body movement as it
relates to your writing; why eyes are made for eye contact; conveying
feelings; and how your voice changes in different positions. There are
several other techniques that will also be discussed. These techniques
will improve book sales and result in more invitations to read and/or
perform at different venues.
